About
Children with genetic syndromes often present with complex, overlapping needs that affect learning, communication, behavior, sensory processing, health, and social participation. This resource aims to reduce inequalities in developmental, health and wellbeing outcomes in children with genetic syndromes, through raising awareness and building understanding of them and how they shape learning, behaviour, and support needs in the classroom. You’ll explore: • What genetic syndromes are and why understanding them matters • How this knowledge supports inclusive teaching • Co-occurring conditions and diagnostic overshadowing — what they mean and why they’re important • The connection between health, environment, and behaviour in the classroom • Individual differences and how to celebrate them • Ways to support and collaborate with parents and carers
